Dictionary of Vocational Psychology

Workaholism

Addiction to work; it is a form of overcommitment to work roles. Many investigators distinguish between workaholics who experience work as pleasurable and those who do not (Burke, 2000), with the latter presumably being the more problematic. Robinson (2000) provides a review of the literature with implications for career counseling.
