Dictionary of Vocational Psychology

Volunteer

An individual who will undertake a job for no pay, and typically involving activities of a service or altruistic nature. When an unpaid work activity is a required or for-credit portion of an educational program, it is usually not referred t as volunteer (internship is typically used instead). Volunteer work is often part-time, but by also be full-time.
